2020~2021 New Year's Holidays
KuSakuraShop will be closed from December 30th and will resume operations on January 6th. There will be no order processing during this time but we'll keep answering your emails from home!

As you may know from our 2020 BCFM campaign, the COVID-19 outbreak and its repercussion on businesses has led us and our craftsmen to a pretty difficult situation.
Everyone needs rest especially in this end of the year, when it is supposed to be a celebration and happy moment we all spend with our family or our friends.

KuSakuraShop will be closed from December 30th to January 5th. We will back on track on January 6th (Tue).
Customer support will be kept at a minimum pace, so if you have some questions that can wait, we would recommend wait for all activities to resume.

Please note that all our manufacturing workshops and partners will also close at approximately the same dates.
All orders containing a product (made to order, out of stock products etc.) for which the production time includes this holiday period will be delayed by approximately 10 days. (All is taken into account on the estimated shipping date provided automatically at checkout.)

2020 has been harsh for everyone and we would like to send our biggest thanks to all those who ordered to support our craftsmen in the last 2 months.

November Report
- Last month we tried to find the best solution to cope with the situation our craftsmen are facing. As you know now from our BFCM special offer, the production undergoes an unprecedented slowdown and most of our craftsmen are on a technical unemployment scheme. After our Backing For CraftsMen campaign, the future is still uncertain but some of you showed their support during the BFCM 2020 and on behalf of all our craftsmen we would thank once again all those who placed an order and those who will in December. We will try to keep up the effort until the situation gets better.

This year has been special, tough and tiring mentally for everyone, everywhere in the world.

As you know, the textile and the martial art industry are far from being spared and the situation is actually very close to catastrophic here. Although we manage to survive here in Tokyo, KuSakura’s workshops in Osaka are almost totally stopped and a partial unemployment scheme has been implemented for most of the employees. Fun fact (not really though), it is most probably the first time in KuSakura’s history that almost all the weaving machines are stopped, the overall production currently being carried out on a per order basis.

Most Dojos are still closed in Japan, as they are in most of the world, and it seems that they won’t reopen before months.

Here in Tokyo and in our workshop in Osaka we are holding on, trying to do our best to keep providing the world with the best Judo equipment on the market. But as things are now, we cannot foresee a forthcoming end to this situation and things will not be back to normal anytime soon, which leaves our craftsman in a rather blurry future. If we don’t react as soon as possible, it is a whole industry that is at risk and the worst could, unfortunately, happen rapidly.

This is for these reasons that here in Tokyo, we decided to try something for our industry, and that we came to the point to ask our community for solidarity. This year, we would like to run a special campaign to support our craftsmen and the work they provided for years. We will do so by offering an exceptional 20% OFF on all our Judogi and Belts for this year's BFCM offer. Please note that this special offer will only be running until December 1st.

Along with this special discount, we will also publish one post per day on our Facebook page. These posts will have the objective to give you further information about our craftsmen, their work and how they proceed to make all the Judogi you can order on our website. So if you are not following us yet on Facebook, it is the perfect opportunity!

All in all, it is certainly not in KuSakuraShop Brand’s Ethic to offer monstrous discounts during the BFCM that encourage the mass consumption and support a system we do not agree with. But considering the rather difficult situation our workshops are facing, we would rather try something to support and bring some sustainability to our industry and if it can make our customers happy by giving them the opportunity to put a brand new Judogi under the Christmas tree, it is a success for us.

For our customers, it is now the best time of the year to gear up looking forward to the general reopening of the Dojo and competitions. We are enthusiastic about this opportunity that we give to our community to make a good action that will support our craftsmen and, in a way, thank them for their incredible work in always making outstanding products. Get delivered before '20 Xmas

Christmas is almost here and maybe some of you are already making their gift list before the big day comes. Even though KuSakuraShop provides the fastest service, we cannot perform miracles, and we thought that some of you may need the deadlines for orders to be delivered before December 25th.
- Made to Order items (embroidered belts, custom Judogi sizes): Order before November 23rd and you will be delivered before Christmas.
- In stock products (belts, bags) shipped via FedEx DHL or UPS: last chance to get items with embroideries/engravings delivered before Christmas is December 17th.
- Because of the covid situation significant delays are to be expected with national postal services, so we do not guarantee delivery before Christmas for the standard shipping method (small package/Epacket).
We usually deliver in 4 days in Europe and North America. Our entire team will be focused on preparing your orders, and all orders for in-stock items placed the 17th will ship the 18th.

We'll be open until December 29th, then closed from 30th to January 5th, for our winter holidays. And of course, email support will be slower but maintained the whole time.

Finally, please understand that our carriers don't employ magical reindeer, and Santa Claus isn't working at the customs. Hence, on-time order delivery cannot be guaranteed 100% so please don't wait until the last minute to order!

Summer has officially come to an end and we are entering a period of mild temperatures here in Japan. Autumn is also supposed to be a great period to practice Judo and train for forthcoming competitions, but due to the current pandemic, it is still quite complicated in a lot of countries.

This is actually in this context that we ran a discount on all Kata equipment last month for the last edition of our 5 years online anniversary. It has been since the closing of Horinouchi in September 2019, one of the main traditional workshops in Japan that we haven’t handled a discount on our weapons. And to be honest, this discount was a great success and a lot of you were happy to be given a good opportunity to renew their Kata equipment set.

September report
- In September, we took some time for project planification. A lot of things will soon change in the shop and this is a tough project that all our team is trying to release as soon as possible. Eventually, to give you a small taste of the new features our team is working on, information will be clearer especially in the cart and the multilingual navigation will be greatly improved.
- On the same note, for those of you who participated in the KuSakuraShop Judo Quiz #1 and given the great success this event had in the Judo community, our team is already working on a similar project, but no date scheduled at the moment.

The rainy season is finally over and while it lasted for way longer than expected, it is now the turn of record high temperatures to settle and for it is not less than 40°C announced by experts for some days, it is definitely pretty hard to go to train at the Dojo. Whether it is in Japan or anywhere else around the world, the number of COVID-19 cases is increasing. At KuSakuraShop, we knock on wood, as everyone in the team and their loved ones are safe and we hope it will keep going this way for us as well as for our customers. As usual, stay safe, respect all protective measures implemented by governments such as washing hands on a regular basis, social distancing and wear a mask. If we all respect these measures, we will be back at the Dojo in no time!

On another note, it is not because the Tokyo Olympic games have been postponed to 2021 that we should forget about getting ready for next competitions. It is actually the best time to gear up as KuSakuraShop still celebrates its 5th year of online presence Anniversary! For this 3rd edition, it is 20% OFF on all IJF Equipment that we offer to competitors. JOF, JNV, JOVB are some of the few discounted IJF products but we also decided to include some extra products extremely useful for competitors of all levels.

O’Bon 2020

The O’Bon is a Japanese Buddhist tradition to commemorate the ancestors in Japanese families. Filial piety is one of the pillars of Japanese society and culture. Therefore, during this period, Japanese companies are used to closing for a week so that their employees can visit their family and take care of their ancestors' graves. It is also a great time of reunion for all generations within families which is something that does not happen very often the rest of the year.

KuSakuraShop will keep managing your orders as usual but our craftsmen will take some days off from Tuesday 11th to Sunday 16th. During this time, orders will naturally be delayed accordingly but this delay is included in the time estimation we provide you when the order is placed. Also, as our workshops are closed for a week, we will not be able to provide you with any quote nor production time for custom-made products.

Mid-August Report
- The Quizz is definitely over, all participants have been contacted and received their prizes. Now we are currently working on a blog article summarizing the quiz. This article will be available on the KuSakuraShop blog, and if you haven’t had the time to read our other articles yet, we definitely recommend checking them out.
So far, as was July, August seems like a quite exciting month and our team is already getting prepared for September.

- All the participants of the KuSakuraShop Judo Quiz we handled in June, received their 5% participation discount code through a special newsletter only sent to quiz participants. If you didn’t receive this special newsletter but participated in the quiz, you can contact the customer support team who will ensure you have participated in the quiz and give you your special code valid for 3 months. Furthermore, all winners have also been contacted and reminded to claim their prize. However, it turns out that some prizes have not been claimed by the original winners and as stated in the quiz conditions, they will, therefore, be reassigned. If you were not part of the lucky one at first, you probably want to check your mailbox to see if this time luck is on your side!

June has been quite a busy month for our teams both in Tokyo and Osaka. The COVID 19 crisis management, the dojo that are remaining closed until further notice and so on. If we had to choose a color to describe the atmosphere of the current situation, gray would definitely be the one.

This summer, let’s try to brighten the atmosphere and change our mind from all that's happening.

First we would like to give a special thanks to all of you who participated in the KuSakuraShop Special Judo Quiz. This small event we designed to thank our customers for their unyielding loyalty has far exceeded our expectations and we are quite grateful for that. The quiz has just ended and summer has just begun, yet, we have another event to share with our customers in July and it is a rather important one as it consists of the 5th KuSakuraShop Anniversary. Already 5 years since we made KuSakura’s quality of product available to the world and despite the recent situation that may have weakened the shop financially, our motivation to always provide you the most qualitative martial art equipment remains the same and we wish to keep it up like this for as long as we can.

To celebrate KuSakuraShop’s 5th Anniversary, a few very special discounts will be carried on over the next few months and more than ever, this summer is definitely the time to gear up to get back to the Dojo on a sound basis. - A little bit above, we were talking about the KuSakuraShop Judo Quiz and as you were more than 1700 passionate Judoka to try their luck to win the brand new JOF/JNF Judogi, we can call it a success and we might consider doing this sort of event again in the future. Now we will proceed to the prize draw to determine who is the winner of the JOF/JNF Judogi, the belts and the special 20% discount code. Throughout the month, we will proceed to the prize distribution, and naturally as we promised, ALL PARTICIPANTS will be able to benefit from a 5% discount on all their next order regardless of their result on the Quiz. This discount code will be included in a special Newsletter we will send to all the participants by mid-August. Finally, we will release a short blog article so as to sum up this first KuSakuraShop quiz, give some precision on some questions and so on.
- We recently got back on Twitter but this time with a fixed editorial line. All our most important news and actualities will be shared on our Twitter page but if you want to know all the details of KuSakura’s actualities, the Facebook page and the Newsletter remain the main mediums.
In July, the workload does not get lighter with all the quiz result to analyze, the prize to distribute and quite important side project to work on, it looks like summer seems pretty busy for the KuSakuraShop team.
