OBon 2025

Most Craftsmen and workshops will take a few days off from August 11th to August 15th, so all custom-made orders will be delayed accordingly.

OBon 2025

Every summer, the Obon festival is celebrated throughout Japan. Rooted in Buddhist beliefs and Japanese traditions, it is a cherished occasion when families gather to honor and remember their ancestors. During this time, communities take part in traditional Bon Odori dances and lantern-floating ceremonies. Obon is both a spiritual and family-centered event, and many businesses close as people take time to reflect, remember, and reunite with loved ones.

As every year, August 11th (Mon) marks Mountain Day, a national holiday in Japan that signals the beginning of some holidays for many, including our craftsmen. So, until August 15th (Fri), the majority of workshops will be closed, leading to extended production time and a temporary suspension of quotations for custom-made items.
Please note that all custom-made orders placed before and during this period will be delayed by about a week. However, rest assured that this is automatically reflected in the estimated shipping dates shown on all product pages and in your cart.

May is slowly ending, and June is starting to peek around the corner, bringing warm days and rainy season along. In Japan, just like anywhere else, everyone is getting ready to face the weather as best as they can, either by using a questionable amount of refreshing wipes or by hiding under their umbrellas. And we, fellow budokas, are no exception! Even though the time spent on the tatami might be a bit harder than usual, everyone is doing their best at training and becoming an even better version of themselves. With summer coming along, it is also the start of the many summer seminars and other festivities around martial arts all around the globe.

But rest assured, it might be the rainy season, but it's definitely not the off season here in Japan, and you will find numerous things to discover! So brave the elements, and come along to discover the wonderful blooming Ajisai (hydrangea) of the Hase-Dera temple, in Kamakura. Take a little detour and go admire the dance of the Hotaru (fireflies) along the clear waters of Kyushu. And to reward yourself for all these efforts, have a little matcha (green tea powder) flavored treat or a mochi (glutinous rice paste), they're in season and will make you forget about the rain pouring outside your window.

Golden Week 2025

KuSakuraShop will be closed on April 29th and from May 3rd to May 6th. Our website stays operational and accepts orders, but no shipping will occur during this period.

Golden Week 2025

In Japan, April 29th (Showa Day), May 3rd (Constitution Memorial Day), May 4th (Greenery Day), May 5th (Children's Day), and May 6th (Greenery Day observed) are national holidays.

All suppliers, carriers, and partners will be closed or maintain only limited services during the entire week.
To avoid orders piling up for Wednesday, 7th, we will be working from April 30th to May 2nd.

Please note that certain orders may suffer a delay of about 2 weeks if their production/preparation time includes the Golden Week. This delay is taken into account by our system, and the date indicated at checkout stays accurate.

As usual, our website will stay fully operational.

O'Bon 2024

O'Bon 2024

The O'Bon festival in Japan is a yearly celebration that occurs during the summer. It combines Japanese tradition and Buddhist beliefs to honor ancestral spirits. Over time, O'bon evolved into a family gathering holiday, as the spirits of the deceased are believed to revisit the household altar every year at that time. On this occasion, family members meet to pay tribute to their ancestors by visiting and cleaning their graves. O'bon also features a traditional dance called "Bon Odori" which is a time of merriment and joy.

Like every year, August 11th (Sun) is Mountain Day, a national holiday in Japan (respected on the following business day when it occurs on Sunday, like this time), which marks the beginning of some holidays for many Japanese, our craftsmen included. So, until August 16th (Fri), the majority of workshops will be closed, the production time will be extended and we will not be able to provide quotations for custom-made items.
All custom-made orders placed before and during this period will be delayed by about a week, but fear not, this will be automatically taken into account in the estimation of the shipping dates displayed on all products, as well as in your cart.
