Black belt of 100% high quality cotton, featuring a width of 4.5 cm. It is the official belt of the International Judo Federation (IJF), model of the year 2011. Black Judo belt with the logo "KuSakura International" and the logo "IJF Official". This is THE belt for competitors, especially at an international level.
This model is characterized by 13 rows of top-stitching for a maximum strength and a classy big knot. You can also opt for the official IJF standard type belt (JOIB) which is with only 10 lines of stitching more flexible and your choice if you prefer a more secure and smaller knot (over strength).
About the women's type Judo belts (with white stripe in the centre): The Kodokan rules and the Japanese Judo federation impose a specific model for women for colored belts up to red belts of high grades. Outside Japan, the women's type Judo Obi are often not authorized and women wear men's belts. However, in certain Dojos and Jujutsu schools they are still used. Judo women's belts are 5 cm shorter than men's belts. Also note that the white stripe covers 4 lines of stitching (on either side of the belt), resulting in only 9 visible rows of top-stitching, although there is a total of 13 lines.
Note, the women's belt being an official Japanese version, is not admitted to international competition.
Optionally with this belt we offer a storage or gift box from either silver cardboard or a wood called Kiri. The Kiri is a traditional light-weight wood, often used in ancient times for the conservation of precious objects because of its characteristics to absorb humidity and resist fire.
At the top right of every belt page, there is a button "size table" and a button "IJF Regulations and body" for more information concerning these topics.
KuSakura proposes two types of embroidery for black belts: integrated and non-integrated embroideries.
Non-integrated embroideries are offered on all belts, whereas integrated embroideries are only possible on black belts except the IJF models.
Non-integrated embroideries (from $9): are performed after the manufacture of the belt, which means that the embroidery is on top of the lines of stitchings of the belt and visible on the reverse side, too. Non-integrated embroideries are less durable than integrated embroideries but less expensive, because they are easy and fast to achieve.* Integrated embroideries are not possible for the models [Black Belt] IJF Superior Kuroobi (JOXB).
All embroideries are realized on a high-end professional machine of the brand Barudan. A non-integrated embroidery delays the shipping by 3 days and an integrated embroidery by 3 weeks.
The embroideries have an average size of 2.5 cm per character for Japanese characters and English capital letters and 1.5 to 2 cm for English lowercase letters.
We offer embroideries on one end or both ends of the belt. If you would like an embroidery at a different spot, thank you for contacting us for a quotation. *However, given the little space on a belt, it is not possible to embroider e.g. a logo.
By default, we offer to embroider your first and/or your family name and further any other word or expression of maximally two words.
It is necessary to choose the corresponding option to the desired embroidery for that the billing is correct. Either $9 for a name or $17 for a first AND family name or all other embroideries consisting of maximally 2 words.
Name + initial = 2 names. If the requested embroidery content differs from the number of word option, your embroidery will be reduced to what has been paid.
The embroidery standards for official IJF Obi are very specific.
The maximum size of the embroidery is 4 cm x 20 cm. Our team will do the necessary to adapt the size of your embroidery to the current standards.
Therefore, the size per character for relatively long names/surnames will be reduced to not exceed the 20 cm total length.
Given the average length of Western names, the option "name AND family name" is not recommended for such products, because the embroidery size will be significantly reduced. Embroidery other than your name or surname are banned in international competitions and only one side can be embroidered.
Unless otherwise stated by the customer, embroideries on IJF products will be adapted to match the standards for competitions.
It is possible to embroider in Japanese as well as in English. In the case of an embroidery in Japanese, the translation is free. You simply enter your name in English and then choose the font "Japanese - Kaishotai" or "Japanese - Gyoshotai"
All belt embroideries can either be made vertically or horizontally,
except for English cursive letters, that of course are always horizontal.
* unless otherwise stated, all horizontal embroideries are embroidered so that the brand logo is worn on the right side (tied belt).
Japanese characters are usually embroidered vertically. Regarding English capital letters, the choice is yours.
This field is required. This is the embroidery content. This field must contain ONLY the desired content (maximally 30 characters).
You can choose of 20 different colors for your embroideries.
Note that for quality reasons the colors silver and gold are not shiny/metallic as for the black belt integrated embroideries.
In the field "other instructions" you can give us more details regarding the embroidery content and its realization.
Finally, you can upload a picture of the desired embroidery. Note that in many cases there are several possible variations for the name transcription in Japanese. We will not accept any claims regarding name transcriptions in Japanese if no further/exact instructions were given.
For this type of embroidery, it is necessary to contact us prior to ordering to determine together all details. You can visit the page embroidery information for more information before contacting us.
For competitions not organized by the IJF, the rules may vary according to the organizer. However, the IJF standards are always accepted. Note that the local/regional rules are usually not very strict, belts may not be checked and all embroideries are accepted.
